Beautiful plastic people populate social media and strongly influence ideas of beauty within our culture. As a young adult I witnessed the portrayal of ourselves on Instagram, Twitter and Tiktok. Personally I find this kind of representation disturbing and disruptive to our youth. It’s as if the beauty standard are copied and pasted. My self portraits reject this idea of beauty portrayed in today's media, it portrays a person I don't recognize. I mock and critique the beauty industry where everything comes at a cost, whether it's getting out of my comfort zone by sexualizing myself or putting on prosthetics to change my appearance, I wanted to create this belief that it's easy to change yourself just for likes and views. Am I aesthetically appealing to you?
